just keep rolling
Holidays mean lots of baking, because lots of little people need lots of food. One new thing we tried was this honey cream swiss roll. I won’t show you a photo of the top, it got cracked pretty badly (any tips on how to not crack a swiss roll?), but it tasted the part. I had to improvise a bit when I discovered I had no icing sugar to make the buttercream for the inside, and used some double cream I had in the fridge with some honey mixed in. Which was all good until I beat it on high. Ever beaten double cream in a mix master? Yeah. It end up more like Honey BUTTER Swiss Roll. But it did the trick, so we’ll pretend that’s what I had planned all along, ok?
Blogging around here will still be a bit intermittent while I find my groove in the new school year and how our routine will work with two school kids, a preschooler and a baby. Boy2 has bowled off to school brimming with confidence and loving every second. Butterfly is starting dance classes. Bear is kicking Year 2’s butt. Beetle is learning to crawl. Add my usual stuff that needs to get done, and time for crafting is somewhat limited, let alone blogging about it! I do have a bit of a backlog of December projects to share, though, so I’m hoping, from next week, that you can expect a post on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Plus maybe an instagram roundup on Sundays. We’ll see. In the mean time, you can also find me over at And Sew We Craft, where I have joined the team as a monthly contributor. This month, I’m showing off a quilt I made in a day over the holidays, and sharing ten tips for how to make a quilt-in-a-day project work. Pop on over to see my first finish of 2014!
